Einstein was tested in political and literary history, German and French, drawing, mathematics, descriptive geometry, biology, chemistry, and physics, and he was required to write an essay. He failed the test. He did well in math and physics but poorly in the other subjects. However, the director of the Polytechnic saw Einstein’s potential and suggested that he obtain a diploma at a Swiss secondary school and reapply.

It can move in the empty space between the stars. With the publication of this paper, the ether was gone from physics. html absolute motion does not exist. When you are on an airplane, you have no way to tell, without looking out the window, whether you are moving or at rest. All the laws of physics, those of mechanics and those of electromagnetism, are the same everywhere in the universe, no matter how you move (provided that you don’t accelerate; see Chapter 12 for more on that situation). Einstein extended the idea of relative motion to light itself.

However, Einstein didn’t write his on regulation paper and Weber forced him to redo it. Einstein wasn’t happy with this demand, since it shortened his studying time for the finals.
